The darkest of fairy stories from the forests of northern Europe. Vasilisa survives a visit to Baba-Yaga's horror nightmare of a house by asking for help from the protective doll that her dying mother gave her on her deathbed. The house is stilted upon giant chicken's feet and is walled by a fence of human bones. Baba-Yaga understands that Vasilisa has been sent by her step mother & sisters to perish so eventually sends her home with a grisly glowing skull which kills the wicked relatives. The story is crammed with magnificent gothic horror and the opportunities for a movie or theatrical adaption are there to see.
